The First Five: an explanation
The title of this blog is inspired by a Freudian-esque obsession I share with a dear friend over the first five years of life. The number five is arguable, depending on our mood or what life-trauma we'd like to include on any given day. It's more of a joke now that we are out of high school and she is a professionally trained therapist, but I needed a name for my blog and it felt right. I still maintain that anything reactive and creative we do are rooted in those initial dramas. I defy her to disagree. Ahem.
Also, my favorite subjects are my family members, of which there are five. so hmm..I intend to create many smaller fashionista paintings daily (somewhat like the melancholy model above) that I hope to sell. However, I will forever obsess over painting enormous portraits of my family members and friends that would only be valuable to me until I am dead and or famous. My next family project will be my brother. I want to do this portrait in a similar style as Silverfox, but apparently I have to wait until he is 'high-school hot' before that can get started. I'll expound on that phenomonon later.

Painting is the new goss
I started a portrait painting class at Chester Springs Studio and thought it was finally time I start posting some work instead of reading about Paris and Lindsay.
The first painting and its totally unnecessary detail shot are from the first of a three session sitting. I am currently working in imprimatura and will start building with color in the next two sessions. This class has been great, my teacher is Martin Pieczonka if you care to google him, he is very good.
The second painting is a portrait of my father.
Thanks for looking! I'll have more soon.
